Founder and Madam Chair, Greater North Texas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

Acela Gómez Garrett

Acela Gómez Garrett, born in Mexico City and raised in Monterrey, immigrated to the United

States in 1970 with a deep passion for education, community, and progress. Throughout her

career, she has served as an educator working with undocumented students, built a successful

professional translation business, and remained a tireless advocate for Hispanic families.

In 2020, she founded the Greater North Texas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GNTHCC)

and currently serves as Madam Chair of the Board. Under her visionary leadership, GNTHCC

has become a vital support system for Hispanic small business owners across North Texas.

In 2023, to further her vision of service to the community, the GNTHCC Foundation was

established to support the Chamber’s mission through community outreach, cultural events, and

fundraising efforts for scholarships and educational grants. Acela also serves as the President

and CEO of the Foundation.

But for Acela, the purpose behind the Chamber has always extended far beyond business.

GNTHCC was created to fulfill a greater need — to be more than a chamber of commerce.

Acela recognized that while the Hispanic community plays a critical role in the region’s

economy, it often lacks a unified voice in decisions that shape its future. GNTHCC exists to

change that.

The organization aims to unite diverse Hispanic groups and generations under one banner to

amplify their collective voice, advocate for issues that matter — such as education, access to

capital, healthcare, and cultural representation — and influence policies that directly impact their

communities.

When a business joins GNTHCC, it's not just about growth or visibility. It’s about becoming part

of a greater mission: to build a stronger, more visible, and more influential Hispanic

community in North Texas.

Acela’s leadership continues to inspire. Her message is clear:

Together, we’re not just doing business — we’re making history.
